To look is to glance, but to really see is the obstacle that we face. God’s holy word awaits us within the leather bound, hard cover shell- we flip through for encouragement, we flip through for a feel-good-happy-lift scripture that reminds us of His love, His understanding, His power, His commitment.. But how is it that we know we merely look without seeing- it is the simple proof that we do not live as though we have seen- to see is to know, to know is to understand. And so He searches another medium in our lives.. ‘Will you listen, will you heed my word’ He asks. Again, we hear- but do we listen. To listen is to know, to know is to understand. The great debate of how we listen to God comes in the way we live out our lives. God places a level of conviction within our hearts, and gives us opportunity and time after time to stand firm and true to our conviction- stand true to that which His word has called us to be. Yes. We look, we hear… We play the part- But within our hearts and minds a different story is told. We are still stubborn in our ways, still blinded to His truths, still deaf to His calling. It is vital that we come to find ways in which we can see His word, hear His voice and learn His ways. Do not seek Him through the obvious, but sit, wait, look, listen and learn through meditating on His word day and night. Surrender, accept and be willing and open. Christ died to get His message across, will you die to yourself to be enveloped in His presence?
